Hemigraphis Ground Cover

 

  • Place of origin:India, Java.
  • Description: Herbaceous creeper with red leaves growing along the ground perennially, rooting at the stem nodes along the way. Leaves are metallic silvery gray-green above and purple beneath. Flowers are tiny, five-lobed, bell-shaped and white in 1” racemes.  Greek name refers to the dense hair –half brush- covering on the filaments of the outer stamens
  • Grow best: In rich, moist, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Propagate by cuttings.
  • Use: As ground cover or in containers and hanging baskets.
