Oxalis rosea

  • Scientific name: Oxalis pes-caprae
  • Place of origin: Brazil, South Africa.
  • Description: 800 to 900 species of flowering plants known. Herbaceous creeper and erect annual with trefoil-like leaves or divided leaves with heart shaped leaflets. Flowers have five petals, fused at the base with petal color varying from white to pink, red or yellow.  The fruit capsule contains several seeds. Roots are tuberous and succulent. 
  • Grow best: Propagation by seeds or by bulbs via vegetative reproduction.Use:
    Indoors and outdoors.
  • Use: As ornamental plants. Rhizomes of some species are edible.
