Description: This shrub has lance –shaped leaves that turn dull-brownish- green when dry. They are bitter and hence ‘not touched by goats’ as the name suggests in Tamil- meaning plant leaves avoided by herbivores. White inflorescence bears large axillary spikes while the fruits are pubescent with club-shaped capsules.
Grow best: In well-draining soil, in bright sunlight and in dry conditions too. Propagation by seeds.
Use: All parts of this plant can be used in Ayurveda, especially in treating common cold along with other herbal leaves.
