- Place of origin: Wetlands of Asia.
- Description: Herbaceous aquatic creeper growing in swampy areas with slender stems and creeping stolons that are green, or reddish –green. Bears white, pinkish or red flowers and cream, hairy rhizomes and densely reticulate fruits.
- Grow best: In dappled sunlight in a well-draining but moist soil. Needs much watering and fertilizing with nutrients.
- Use: Healthful vegetable and as a medicinal herb.
