ANANAS LUCIDUS - ORNAMENTAL PINEAPPLE
- Place of origin: South America
- Description: Evergreen terrestrial bromeliad. Related to common edible pineapple but different because of stiff, smooth, slender red-bronze leaves. Though it also bears pineapples on stalk, these are miniature and non-edible.
- Grow best: Well-drained soil, full to partial sun. If sunlight is not enough, leaves become dull green. Mature plants bear offsets which can be propagated.
- Use: Ideal for containers, mixed borders or rockeries.
