  • Known as: Jamaican sago,Zamia
  • Scientific name: Zamia furfuracea
  • Place of origin: Tropical regions of the Americas evolving over 300 million years ago.
  • Description: Currently 300 cycad species exist. We stock the ornamental cycad with beautifully arranged leaves. The name originates from Latin words Zamia- pinenut and furfuracea-mealy. As it grows it superficially resembles a palm and is thus called ‘Cardboard Palm’. Female plants bear a cone in the centre.
  • Grow best: In humid, warm well draining soil with enough sunlight and water.
  • Use: Indoors with regular exposure to sunlight or outdoors in full sunlight or partial shade.
