• Place of origin: Tropical Americas and West Indies.
  • Description: Greek name meaning Love (Philo) and Tree (Dendron) for these plants as they bear large heart shaped leaves on short stems. Philodendron small sp. has very short stalks.
  • Grow best: Requires partial sunlight, moist and organic soil and right amount of watering. Easy to care for. With too much sunlight, leaves turn yellow and alternately with too little light the stems become leggy, and the gaps between the leaves increase. Fertilize indoor plants with a weak  fertilizer solution once a fortnight. Propagation is by cuttings.
  • Use: Indoors and outdoors for their ornamental value.
