King Palm

  • Known as:  King Palm
  • Scientific name:  Archontophoenix alexander
  • Place of origin: Australia.
  • Description:  Grows to about 60 feet with a canopy spread of about 15 feet, bearing attractive pink to purple flowers which turn to berry–like fruits.
  • Grow best: Easy to care in well-draining but moist soil and full sunlight. Water once a week. Fertilize twice a year with slow release fertilizer. King Palms should not be pruned or cut as they bear permanent scars from every cut which may be attacked by fungus. Never transplant these palms once they have been planted in the ground. Propagation by seeds.   
  • Use:  Ornamental plant, maybe kept indoors too.
