- Place of origin: Northern Asia Minor.
- Description: Trees can grow up to 9m or can be potted; large palm-sized leaves, bear pear-shaped nutritious fruits on branches and trunk.
- Grow best: In any well-draining but moist soil rich in organic matter, with pH 6. Bright sunlight required.
- Use: Figs are excellent eaten as a fruit or in salads, made into jam and added to other cooking.
