SUNLIGHT FOR PLANTS

All plants require light for photosynthesis. In this process, plants absorb energy from the sun, which fuels the processes necessary for survival. Plants use light energy to transform water and carbon dioxide into sugars, called glucose.

What happens when a plant doesn’t get enough sunlight?

Plants deprived of sunlight will lose their colour and die. Their leaf shoots exposed to limited or no sunlight has a yellow or white colour, due to the fact no photosynthesis has taken has taken place and chlorophyll in the leaf cells have died.

Plants depend on sunlight for their growth, survival and reproduction. Three basic ingredient required for them to survive: sunlight, water and carbon dioxide. Sunlight plays a critical role in growth of a plant.

Sun loving plants should be placed in direct sunlight or in a place where get direct sunlight for four to five hours. For indoor plants, we always advice, place your plants in a draped or filtered light throughout the day. They should do just fine.
